Dramatic Video: Soldier captures moment his convoy got hit by an IED

Michael Hiltner deployed to Iraq as a U.S. Army infantryman and captured a number of videos during his patrols that help convey the experience of the front-line troops who have fought there.

In this video, the improvised explosive device (or “IED”) has been placed by the enemy on a route used by U.S. vehicle convoys. One commenter said that based on the explosion, the IED had likely been buried beneath the road.

The device is detonated at approximately 17 seconds into the video.

Hilter filmed a number of scenes during his unit’s operations in Iraq that are worth watching for anyone wanting to learn more about what our troops in combat units have experienced.

We highly recommend checking out his YouTube channel here.
