USO boosts morale of soldiers deployed for Puerto Rico recovery efforts

A great story on the United Service Organizations, a Congressionally-chartered non-profit organization that — among numerous other missions — brings a touch of entertainment and comfort to America’s troops deployed overseas.

Although the most famous examples might be performers like Bob Hope and Robin Williams performing their acts on USO tours in combat theaters, the USO actually goes anywhere you might fight troops away from home.

As reported at, the USO is currently supporting our troops in Puerto Rico:

The USO established its centers in Aguadilla, Ceiba, Ponce and at the Institute of Forensic Sciences (IFC) in San Juan. Each facility has air conditioners, solid floors, sports equipment, domino tables, television sets, Blu-Ray players, video games, and barbecue equipment, among other amenities.

In addition, each USO location offers consumables, such as snacks and sodas. The equipment will be transferred to the Army Reserve, 1st Mission Support Command (1st MSC) to use it as needed, in support of the Soldiers. Read more at…

Our thanks goes out to the troops now deployed to Puerto Rico, and to the great folks from the USO who are supporting them.
