Vice President Pence Promises Stronger Military, Help for Veterans

With President Trump out of the country for his Asia tour, Vice President Pence stood in for him at the annual Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Ceremony (the President spoke to Vietnam veterans in Da Nang).

The VP was blunt in classifying veterans benefits as earned, stating that they are “ongoing compensation for services rendered,” and cited work the administration had done to increase accountability of employees of the Veterans Administration.

He also mentioned work now being done by the administration to strengthen the U.S. armed forces:

“And under President Donald Trump, I’ll make you a promise: We’re going to rebuild our military. We’re going to restore the arsenal of democracy, and we will once again give our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen the resources and training they need to accomplish their mission and come home safe,” Pence said. “That’s our promise to all of you.” h/t defense.gov
