Winning hearts and minds: Sailors donate hair to cancer patients in Sri Lanka

Will all the internal crises and global hot spots facing the Navy today…  Can’t we all use a feel good story, just once?

Sailors and Marines are often involved in worthy charitable and community service efforts ashore throughout the countries in each fleet’s area of responsibility. These can include projects as varied as providing health screening, helping to rebuild schools and other public buildings, and visiting orphanages.

On a slightly different note, the story below details how sailors from the USS Princeton recently donated their hair so that it could be made into wigs for cancer patients.

Four Sailors assigned to Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59) and a U.S. Embassy representative gave a unique piece of themselves, their locks of hair, while on a port visit in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Oct. 29. Read more at source…
