Volunteer Opportunity: The Coast Guard Auxiliary

Always wondered what it would be like to join the Coast Guard? Want to do meaningful volunteer work close to home that directly contributes to Team Coast Guard’s mission accomplishment?

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the U.S Coast Guard’s civilian volunteer component. Besides directly supporting disaster response operations, members also provide safety training to boaters, conduct inspections, and sometimes even work alongside reserve and active Coast Guard members when the situation requires it.

Recently dodlive.mil highlighted some work performed by Auxiliary members in response to Hurricane Harvey.

Coast Guard auxiliarists volunteered and stood watch during Hurricane Harvey an average of 350 hours per member and logged more than 10,000 total hours in support of hurricane response operations within Texas. Read more at source…
